As you land in Nepal, our representative will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Then, they will assist you in transferring to your hotel in Kathmandu. On the same day, we will collect your original passport to process the Tibet Visa.

After a delicious breakfast, you’ll explore Kathmandu’s gorgeous sites, including the region's UNESCO-listed highlights. Our guide will take you to Pashupatinath Temple, a popular Hindu temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Next, we will visit Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest spherical stupas in the world. Other notable sites include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Today we have a long yet beautiful ride ahead. After breakfast, we drive through the mesmerizing countryside with occasional stops for refreshments and photos.

Wake up early and head to Sarangkot, a hilltop vantage point best known for breathtaking sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The sunrise in Pokhara is unlike any other you’ve ever experienced. After returning to your hotel for breakfast, your day continues with visits to:

  • Tal Barahi Temple: Also known as Lake Temple or just Barahi Temple, this religious monument is located on an island in Phewa Lake which is accessed by a short boat ride. Devi’s Fall: This is a spectacular waterfall with a mysterious underground outlet.
  • Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave: This is a sacred cave with a temple inside.
  • Seti Gorge: A natural wonder carved by the Seti River Then, in the afternoon, we’ll go for a one-hour boat ride on the serene Fewa Lake.

This morning, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lhasa. As you land, you’ll be greeted by your Tibetan guide, who will drive you to Lhasa city. The drive itself is wonderful, as the scenery changes to Tibet’s unique high-altitude landscapes.

Once in Lhasa, take the rest of the day to relax and acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight stay at Hotel Kyichu in Lhasa.

You’ll spend two days exploring Lhasa. You’ll visit various places such as:

  • Potala Palace: This winter palace of Dalai Lama since the 7th century is a masterpiece of Tibetan art. It is designed on Chinese and traditional Himalayan architecture, with four-sided towers and flat roofs. With over 1,000 rooms, more than 200,000 statues, over 10,000 shrines, 698 murals, and 10,000 painted scrolls, along with many artifacts, you will not get bored while visiting the Potala Palace.

  • Jokhang Temple: Considered the spiritual heart of the city, this temple is the most sacred in Tibet. It is filled with original elements such as wooden beams and rafters and Newari door frames, columns, and finials from the seventh and eighth centuries. The temple’s main attraction is the statue of Jowo Rinpoche, or Jowo Shakyamuni which is considered Tibet’s holiest object.

  • Barkhor Bazaar: This is a lively marketplace with many shops and stalls. You’ll get a variety of Tibetan arts, crafts, and cuisines. You can buy souvenirs from here.

  • Drepung Monastery: The largest of all Tibetan monasteries, Drepung Monastery is truly one of a kind. The monastery has a cozy, layered design, with buildings that connect and are stacked in tiers. You’ll find prayer wheels spread throughout, and the walls are beautifully painted with colorful Thankas.

  • Sera Monastery: Sera Monastery is an interesting place that includes several institutions, including chapels, colleges, and monk residences. It has many artistic treasures, including thangkas, murals, and many other artifacts.

Today, you immerse yourself in Bhutanese culture with visits to Thimphu’s top attractions such as:

  • Memorial Chorten: Built in 1974 in memory of the third king of Bhutan, the chorten indicates peace, compassion, and the propagation of Buddhism. Unlike typical stupas that contain relics, this chorten has paintings, statues, and mandalas representing Buddhist teachings. It features a whitewashed stupa with a golden spire and has beautiful prayer wheels and detailed carvings.

  • Zilukha Nunnery: Zilukha Nunnery is known for being the largest nunnery in Bhutan, housing around 60 nuns. The nunnery has a quiet ambiance with its breathtaking views of Tashichho Dzong. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with the nuns and learn about their lifestyle, beliefs, and many more.

  • Takin Sanctuary: This is an interesting place as you can see Bhutan’s national animal, ’Takin’ here. These are a rare type of goat-antelope with large heads, sturdy torsos, and long noses.

  • Tashichho Dzong: This monastery is a beautiful Bhutanese architecture with whitewashed walls, golden roofs, and intricately carved wooden windows. It is also a monastic center and the seat of the government. The halls are decorated with murals and statues that depict scenes from Buddhist mythology and Bhutanese history. The monastery is the venue for some of Bhutan’s most important festivals and ceremonies, including the annual Thimphu Tshechu.

  • Textile Museum: This museum has a wide collection of ancient and modern textiles, including royal ghos, crowns, dresses, and accessories. The museum also has displays that demonstrate spinning, coloring fibers, preparing a loom, and manipulating yarns. You’ll also witness a virtual exhibition that includes Thagzo-the Art of Weaving and Royal robes-Wangchuck Dynasty. The museum also has a shop that sells books and fine textiles.

  • Heritage Museum: This museum is a 150-year-old traditional Bhutanese house made of timber and rammed earth. The museum displays a variety of artifacts related to Bhutanese culture and way of life, including tools, equipment, and objects. Some of the items on display include an antique noodle press, leopardskin bags, and Brokpa yak-hair ”spider” hats. The museum also regularly holds events and demonstrations, including traditional ways of extracting oil, brewing area, roasting rice, and pounding rice.

If we have enough time, we will also visit, Zangdopelri Temple, Paper Factory, Indigenous Hospital, and Traditional School of arts and crafts.

Later, drive to Paro and settle in for the night. Overnight at hotel.

After breakfast, set off for an exciting hike to the  Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang) where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views. Later, explore other highlights of Paro including Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum, and the local market. Overnight at the Hotel.
