How hard is the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery?
The Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang) hike is quite tough but doable for most with basic fitness. The trail is a 6 km round trip, 900 meters elevation gain, and takes around 4-5 hours to complete. The path is steady uphill, with switchbacks and final steep stone steps, so it’s a bit tough especially at 3,120 meters high.
But if you pace yourself, take breaks, and stay hydrated it’s manageable. There are rest stops along the way where you can recharge and enjoy the views. While the trail is a bit of effort, the views of the monastery clinging to the cliff and the peaceful atmosphere are worth it.
